What actually Body Fat is ?

It is actually adipose tissue; its primary purpose is to store energy in lipid form, but your body is also cushioned and insulated. Your body stores two forms of fat: essential body fat and storage.

To sustain life and reproductive functions, the former is essential. Necessary body fat due to childbearing and hormonal functions is significantly higher for women.

Body fat accumulation is the mass of accumulated additional fat. However, this type of body fat does not mean that it is excessive – part of it protects your abdomen and internal organs.

With our body fat percentage calculator, you can estimate your body composition. Bear in mind that no calculator, however complex, will replace a doctor’s office visit.

This outcome should be viewed as a rough estimate; it can only tell you if the body fat percentage is significantly too high, but if the outcome varies marginally from the prescribed value, there is no need to panic.

How Body fat calculator Works?

You need to collect the following data to measure the body fat percentage:

1- Gender & Age

2- Weight:

Measure yourself simply. In the morning, before breakfast, and without clothing, you can get the most reliable result by weighing yourself.

3- Height:

Stand upright, and calculate the distance from the floor to the top of your head. Keep in mind there should be no shoes.

Then you would get your body fat percentage. Compare your Body fat percentage result within given table to find out where you stand in classification? Are you in Fitness or Obese? Check out and act accordingly.

General Introduction to Body Fat calculator

Six elements constitute more than 98 percent of the human body: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. Almost another 1 percent is responsible for potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium .

These are the 11 elements that are most important, so called non-trace. Of course, with regard to molecules, the most common molecule in the human body is water, which takes up approximately 65% of the mass, followed by proteins and lipids. Hydroxyapatite, carbohydrates and nucleic acids are other molecules which have a good percentage of mass.

Other Body Fat Calculators

BMI Method

One of the most popular methods of measurement is the body mass index (BMI). BMI is a number used to measure the size of the body. It is not a percentage of body fat, but a general score that helps determine whether your weight is within a healthy range.

Using your weight and height, the amount is measured. The extra weight is believed to be overweight if you are carrying too much weight for your height.

US Navy Method

For measuring body fat, there are several basic techniques used. The above calculator uses a system that involves equations developed by Hodgdon and Beckett in 1984 at the Naval Health Research Center. As well as the basic equations used, the method for measuring the related body parts is given below:

Measure the circumference of the waist of the subject at a horizontal level for males around the navel and at a level with the smallest width for females. Ensure that to achieve precise measurements, the person should not draw their stomach inwards.
Measure the circumference of the neck of the subject beginning below the larynx, sloping downward to the front with the tape. The subject should prevent their neck from flaring outward.

For women only: On the largest horizontal scale, measure the diameter of the subject’s hips.

Once these measurements are obtained, enter the values into formulas to calculate an estimate of body fat.

Skin Caliper Method

Instead of body circumference measurements, there are many body fat calculators that use skin fold measurements to estimate the percentage of body fat.

Skinfold calipers can be bought for home use or you can hire a specialist who is experienced in healthcare or gym settings to use them.

To estimate fat levels, skin calipers pinch a portion of your body. The system of the caliper may be more accurate.

DeXA Scanning Method

Whole-body scanning for calculating body fat percentage is increasingly becoming the gold standard. However, the main reason the test is so accurate is because it is usually conducted in a medical environment by highly trained technicians.

Often, the DeXA test is very costly and might not be accessible where you live.

Bioelectrical Impedance (BIA)

In the office of your healthcare provider, home scales, gym-quality scales and devices may use bioelectrical impedance to estimate body fat. Simply put, to calculate fat, the system sends a harmless, completely pain-free electrical signal through your body.

You get a fast and immediate body fat percentage result. Although this approach is easy, the precision of the outcome can be affected by such variables such as hydration level.

Hydrostatic Weighing

As the most reliable method of calculating body fat percentage, this submersion method has long been recognized. However, when holding their breath, it allows a person to be completely submerged in a tank of water.

The stamina essential for hydrostatic weighing can be a challenge for many. A place that conducts the test may also be difficult to locate.

There are other body fat measurement methods not mentioned here. Whichever method you use, note that you need to use the same method each time to get the most reliable results if you intend to calculate your body fat regularly.
